When we all decided to get up this morning, we had a nice breakfast at a place called Penelope's. Omelet and two buttermilk pancakes. Back at Mike's house, I finished packing, Val and Paulina took off for the Ft. Lauderdale airport, and Mike took me to the train station in Delray Beach at about 11:30. The train was a little late arriving, but that was not an issue since I am not in any great hurry. I had lunch at 1:30, dinner at 6:30, and I even have a glass of cabernet in the room. Right now, we are in DeLand, and that is the eleventh stop we have made so far. Not sure I will be able to keep up overnight, but I will try. I know Paulina and Val are back in Austin, and they picked up the girls and will watch them until I get home on Thursday. This is going to be a pretty long train ride, but so far, so good. I hope I don't end up hating it, because I really want to fly one way and train ride back. Fingers crossed. The photo with this journal entry is one of the reasons I want to ride trains. Just a small little place that I would never see if I was in a hurry. Little towns, villages, lots of America to be seen from a train.Monday, September 1, 2025
