Still having some knee issues, so I have been doing only half-walks, but that is okay. I had an appointment with a 'bone doctor' this morning, and I was fully expecting to be told that I needed a left knee replacement. Mainly because I have been told that by the medicos for at least the last thirty years. I have been told it would be inevitable. Let me share with you some things I learned today about 'corporate' health care, and the caveat is my experience was a 90% positive one. Here we go. When I am directed to go to an appointment with a doctor (actually a PA-C) in a four story building, I need more direction than the street address. A suite number of the PA-C would be considered helpful. After determining where the PA-C in particular could be found, I stood in line for a while at 'check-in.' That seems to kind of contradict the 15 or twenty minutes that I spent doing the on-line check-in, but...whatever. On the bright side, while I was standing in line, I was able to get my 'Wordle' puzzle done, start to finish. In three tries. Once I checked in, I was directed to a spot to go sit and wait. There was a sign there that said I should be called within 15 minutes, and I was. I also think when someone comes to fetch you, they should introduce themselves. I am not opposed to asking 'who are you,' but shouldn't I know who is leading me into the bowels of this facility. The same should be said of the PA-C that came in to talk to me. I would like to know that that person is whom they said I should meet with. It is not my fault that everyones name tags are located in an inconvenient place to stare. Whatever. So, after some discussion and some poking and prodding, I was given some options, and the chosen option was just to get a steroid shot, and to see how that does. I was also told by a few friends that the steroid shot was not at all painful, but I prepared the PA-C for a high pitched scream. Didn't happen. I still have a little bit of discomfort, but not at all like I have been experiencing, so, so-far-so-good. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.Tuesday, July 8, 2025
