I made it home from Playa this morning, and I went down for several naps. I was up early, about 3AM, to make sure I got on my transport at 5AM. I didn't need to be up at 3AM, but I could not sleep, so I just got up. I was through security and customs and got to my gate at about 6AM for the 8:30 flight, so I certainly had plenty of time. It was kind of shocking to walk in the front door of the Curious House, because the condo is really very minimalist, and the Curious House is exactly the opposite of that. But it is all good. I got all the plants back outside, not mention of freezing weather for the foreseeable future, did a few other chores, made a trip to the Post Office, and HEB, and I am ready to settle in with the girls and some grapes. THe photo accompanying this journal entry is twelve grapes. As I mentioned yesterday, the Mexican tradition to see in the New Year is to eat grapes. Kyung picked me up at the airport, and the tradition is to actually eat 12 grapes under the table, all at once. Crawl under the table, put twelve grapes in your mouth at exactly midnight on the first day of the year, and you will have good luck. I missed that opportunity, but I am going to do it anyway, I figure it can't hurt. If I go missing, look under the table and see if I choked on grapes.Friday, January 2, 2026
