Volume 17 - Day 176/189, 2025 - Wednesday

We were up kind of/sort of early this morning, and headed to Chamonix to see Mont Blanc. We were going to do a short drive in to Italy as well, but it dod not work out. Tomorrow, we will have a kind of casual morning, and then drive to Lauterbrunnen (don't even think about asking) in Switzerland. I will Google it later and see what is there, and I will tell you tomorrow. When we got to Chamonix, we walked around the town (I think it is a town, the word 'city' just does not seem to apply) bought some t-shirts, and then headed to the gondolas to go up the mountain. Village might actually be a better name for this area. Chamonix-Mont Blanc. Going up and down consists of two different gondolas, and it is absolutely beautiful. I took about a hundred photos of what look to be the same landscape, but they are all different. Jody and I went to Machu Pichu many years ago, it is in the Andes, and also absolutely gorgeous. Two different mountain ranges, two different kinds of beautiful. We got back down, and did a bit more shopping, and then had dinner. After dinner, we did more shopping, and then went back to the hotel and sat outside and just talked and had fun for a while. We are planning tomeet in the morning at 8AM for breakfast, so now it is off to sleep. The photo accompanying this journal entry is me and Mike, as close to Mont Blanc (behind us) as we could get.
