I think I am getting more used to this 'retirement' gig as I go along. I really believe the 'retirement' was not effective until July 15th, which is when the office was totally cleaned out and our tenant moved in. Now, I do not really need or have any reason to go in to Austin, except for social or volunteer things, which is pretty nice. Jimmie joined us for our walk again this morning, and I think he may join us as we go now, which is fun. After that, I got the girls to the beautiful parlor at 10 o'clock, then I came home and called Marian to get the name of the nursery I bought three trees from last fall. The two peach trees really have not thrived, so I went and got some advice, and another peach tree to replace the one I suspect is dead. I am not actually going to give up totally on the 'dead' tree, but I am going to replace it in the ground. We shal see how this all works out. Then it was time to go and get the girls, and Jimmie and Linda invited me to go to Bon Aire for shrimp and pork kabobs. After the shrimp and kabobs, we kind of wandered around north Austin for a while, and now home, got the girls fed, and getting ready to call it a night. I have a quick zoom tomorrow, and I might (or might not) think about planting the new peach tree.Thursday, August 14, 2025
