Welcome to Sunday evening! It was a good day, and I got a lot of stuff done. Of course it started with a nice walk with Paul and Richard, and then I took off for brunch with Paulina, Val and Oliver. Paulina doesn't recognize American Mother's Day, she waits for the Polish Mother's Day, which is still a couple weeks off. After brunch, I went to Target, CS, and HEB. Then it was down for a nap. Aside from that...I think of myself as a relatively informed and intelligent kind of old person, but there are lot of words being flung around that, well, I am not exactly sure of their meaning, especially as they are being thrown around by allegedly important persons. For example...Habeas Corpus. That is Latin for 'you shall have the body,' which is a fundamental legal principle (in the U.S.) that protects individuals from unlawful detention. It means that someone detained for one reason (or no reason) can challenge that detention, forcing the state to justify the reasons for detaining them. It is in the U.S. Constitution, to insure that people are not arbitrarily imprisoned. That is what I learned today, maybe it is helpful for you as well. Speaking of Mother's Day, the photo accompanying this entry are my two kids...and they believe me to be both Mother and Father. I do my best!Sunday, May 11, 2025
