2011 - Day One Hundred Ninety One; Sunday...

Okay, it has been a really long but very productive day. I made an nice egg loaf this morning, and then headed out to work. In the heat of the edge of nowhere. To water plants (that I think might end up being futile) and to pull weeds and to feed cattle and set our molasses buckets for them, along with fresh hay, some creep feed (it's a cow thing) and some fresh salt licks and mineral licks. Then it was on to enlarging the newest chicks space next to the chicken coop, watering trees and this and that. Incredibly productive. I would not gotten a third of this done if Michael and Lorenzo had not been here to help me out. Sundays are generally 'work around the homestead' days.

Parts of Austin are getting rain, as reported on the news and by many of my FaceBook friends, but nothing here. The wind has come up, but no rain. Another 100 degree day, and the heat is killing off all the good plants and only the weeds are thriving. There are still three or four months of summer to go, and I doubt there will be enough water to keep this up.

Jody made pork chops for dinner, and the temperature has gone down by about 15 degrees and it is not even 7 o'clock yet. It has been over 90 degrees the past week at 9 o'clock at night, and when I get up in the mornings, it is in the mid-70's. Very comfortable actually, too bad it is too dark to enjoy it.

I am going to go out an make sure all the chickens and chicks have everything they need for overnight. All is well out here in the country.

Deeds, Actions, Changes, HARD WORK, Kindnesses, Whirled Peas, FUN!
