A couple days ago, it was 80 degrees. Perfect weather for a pedi-cab start to a birthday celebration. This morning, it was about 42 degrees, cloudy and a little bit windy. But...we persevered, and I think everyone had a good time. If you look closely in the photos, you will see five pedi-cabs filled with happy folks celebrating Joel's birthday. Joel...Jody...same thing, just don't want to confuse anyone at this stage. I was in the caboose, so all you see of my pedi-cab is 'Goose' the actual mover-and-shaker of that particular pedi-cab. Anyway...it was really fun to see the city from a different (and markedly slower) perspective. We are always in a rush to get here and there, and we fail to remember the ins-and-outs of the city. There are little hide-holes that you only see if yo are going slower, and looking at things from a different perspective. Joel have lived here for decades before it became the Number 1 this-and-that. The city he moved to is not here any longer, but by taking these pedi-cabs under the bridges, under the expressway, under the roads, it was an opportunity for him (and all the celebrants) to see a few little glimpses of what Austin used to be, along with a lot of what Austin is now.We were pedi-cabbed for about two hours, then we made it back to the Four Seasons for brunch, where we were joined by more guests, and a good time was had by all. The company was great, the love and caring was overwhelming, and we could not have had a better celebration.
