Day Two Hundred Seventy Six...

It is a perfect day for burning stuff out in the country. This is a photo of our neighbor Randy burning some of his tree limbs and stuff at his property this morning. Jody and I had gotten in the mule, and decided to go out and check the fences in the back pasture, since there is a 100% chance of rain today. While we were out there, we saw Randy and his daughter Dierdre out there starting a fire. We went over and talked with them for a while, and took this photo for the days post. I think I need to try and talk Dierdre into coming over the next time she is in town and helping me burn some stuff on our land. We bought the land with several piles of tree limbs and miscellaneous refuse (not trash, just stuff from around the property). Anyway, since we have had some rain, folks all around are burning, so I am kind of getting the bug. We shall see.

The wind is coming in from the east-south-east right now, and it is coming in at a pretty good clip, much breezier than it was this morning when we were out. The flags are having a good time, and I love watching them.

After we came in from talking with Randy and Dierdre, we spent some time hanging some more pictures in the house. We have lived here almost a year now (it will be a year next week) and we still have not gotten all the pictures hung in the house. We will get around to it eventually. We are really not in any hurry! Anyway, we got several pictures hung, and the pool guy came to clean the pool. I had not expected him to come, and I had already gotten the iron chair out of the pool, cleaned the skimmer basket and the Polaris filter and all that, so he had kind of an easy job today. Oh well...

Jody and I went on into Georgetown for a while, and our main goal was to stop at Target and pick up some things...mission accomplished, we felt obligated to stop at Dairy Queen for a spoiler and so that was very convenient. On the way home, we stopped over at Hubert and Pauline's and talked with Pauline for just a few minutes. Pauline was reporting that a yellow crop-duster had been buzzing the Schwertner Community Center, and following down 322 so low that the electric wires next to the road were swaying from the plane's wind turbulence. After we got home, we heard the plane buzzing our house, but by the time we got outside, we could not see the plane, but it was REALLY LOW, low enough that we thought he could have landed on the roof. He was making plenty of racket, but he has not come back again.

Tomorrow is the Schwertner Community Center Fund Raiser Bar-B-Que. They have been doing it for 33 years, so we are going to go for lunch. I hope it does not get rained out. If it is raining, we will go and get something to carry out. It sounds like it will be good, and a lot of fun, too. Everyone we know around here will be there, and so that will be good. Most of the folks we know are having some part in getting everything ready for the event, too.

Okay, that is about it. Do a kind deed for someone that does not expect it of you. Make a small change in your life that will make our planet a better place. Have Fun!
