I am not sure if this is a frog or a toad. Whatever it is, the Piglet is fascinated, and the schnauzer is only mildly interested. Frogs have long legs, longer than their head and body, which are made for hopping. Toads have much shorter legs and prefer to crawl around rather than hop. Frogs have smooth, kind of slimy skin, and toads have dry, warty skin. Based on this information, I am going to say that I think this is a toad. There are generally one or two on the patio or just down the steps to the back yard. As I said, the Piglet is FASCINATED. Not sure if she just wants to stare at it or if she might try to eat it if she were given the chance. She is pretty famous for trying to eat just about anything that won't try to eat her first. We got some more rain this afternoon, so far another 1.76" in my backyard gauge. Perfect. There has been some of the usual flooding in Austin, particularly on Lamar at about 10th Street, that, if any place in Austin is going to flood, that is where it will flood. Maybe some more rain overnight, and good chances of rain through Thursday, and lower chances Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We like it!
