Day One Hundred Twenty Six...

SO, today was a pretty good day, my intention was to get into the office early because I had asked that we have the usual Thursday meeting on Wednesday. Plus, I had lots of other stuff to get done. The ride into the office was relatively uneventful until just a few miles from the office, where there was a several car/truck pile up on the Interstate. It was an interesting accordion like wreck (the 18 wheeler was last) and all the cars were in varying degrees of accordion-ness (or mess). But traffic was going around it all rather effortlessly because the police had not yet arrived. AND, because it happened so quickly, there was not really any time for photos. RATS! Interestingly as well is, I do not think there were ANY injuries at all, everyone was out walking around and talking on their cell phones...even the guy most crumpled by the 18 wheeler was sitting inside his car writing stuff down. Incredible!
The day went well, had our staff meeting, made lots of phone calls, got all three of the Ombudsman cases cleared (two satisfactorily, one not, but that is the way the cookie crumbles). Went to lunch with Tom in the office, came back and got more stuff done and headed out to a Energy Presentation put on by the City of Austin and others about a new ordinance going into effect on June 1, and certain stipulations that have to be done according to the ordinance...blah, blah, blah... Anyway, on the way to that meeting, I passed this little deal, a UT shuttle bus heading backwards on the side of MoPac (Loop 1) getting ready to be towed off. I think perhaps the traffic mavens are trying to tell me to slow down, what do you think? Whatever...

After that meeting I headed home, and got home in time to see Micheal working on the fence in the back pasture. We are adding some fencing to try to keep the calves from escaping, and this ought to do it. He also said that we may cut some hay in another couple of weeks as long as everything goes well. That will be exciting, my first hay that has not had to be bought since we have had the cattle. Pretty good! As long as I was back there, I decided it would be a good photo-op for the two newest members of the family. Ain't they purty?

Okay, tomorrow is another day of Leadership training and after that I will head to the airport to pick up our friend Mike from Miami...we are really looking forward to his visit, and are always happy to see him. AND they are supposed to install the wind turbines tomorrow as well, so that will be darned exciting. Can't wait, and I hope it is a successful venture and that this produces the bulk of our energy needs. Next up will be the solar panels and the battery back-up systems.

Now, go do something nice for someone, and have fun while you are doing it!
