2010 - Day One Hundred Fifty Six...

It is a beautiful day in central Texas (a little hot, but whatever), my Internet service at the house is working, Jody and I went into Austin and did some errands, and all is right with the world! Who could ask for anything more?

I got up this morning and fed the chickens, and threatened to work the bees, but I will put that off until tomorrow morning. I'm telling you the truth, those bee suits are HOT HOT HOT! Anyway, the chicks are growing like weeds, and probably in another six weeks or so, they will start to lay! Farm fresh eggs, anyone? The chickens are pretty funny, too, and they are very curious. They are not the least bit afraid (although they can be spooked pretty easily) and they are getting used to having their heads and throats rubbed when I am out there with them. They are really getting pretty, too. The Blonds are the friendliest so far, I think the Reds are going to be the prettiest, and Jody is really fascinated by the tail tufts on the Barred Plymouth's.

Jody and I went into Austin and ran an errand or two, and on the way home we stopped at Chick-Fil-A for lunch. We really like their chicken salad sandwiches (don't tell the chickens), and I had an Oreo Milk Shake as well. That place was CRAZEE! In one section they had white table cloths (must have been some kind of a party, but at Chick-Fil-A?), and there was VERY LIMITED parking and not an extra table or booth to be had. But it was a good lunch.

We got home, and we both went down for a nap. Once we got up, we putzed around in the yard and on the patio for a while, before we both got into the pool to cool off. 97 degrees in the shade, and a little more in the sun. Don't stay out in the sun too long! The Vitek tree is really blooming, and it is really a beautiful bush; the butterflies and the bees absolutely love it, but the little pods and little petals are magnets to the pool. You cannot keep the pool clean when the wind is blowing and that tree is blooming. Oh well, it is an okay trade-off.

And the cannas and day lillies and cactus and gladiolas are blooming as well. This is about the prettiest color of a glad that I have seen in a long time. Very nice.

Tomorrow will (hopefully) be another day of working around the house. I am thinking of getting one of those Rubber-Maid storage sheds (a small one) to put all the pool stuff in to get it all off the patio. That will clean up that are a little bit, and make things look a little more organized. We shall see.

Deeds, Actions, Changes, GLADIOLAS, Kindnesses, Whirled Peas, FUN!
