For 2014, I resolve to change the kitchen sponge on a monthly basis. Done...
I know some cows that are going to be happy tomorrow. They will start the year off with two big new fresh molasses buckets. That's hog-heaven for a cow!
End of the year went well, no complaints. Remember last night, I said I would NOT BE waxing philosophical, and I am keeping my promise.
Let's just see what the New Year brings!

2013 - Day 364/1 - Monday...
Okay, we are almost through with this year, but that did not stop the sunset from being extra glorious this evening. I was busy trying to change light bulbs in a lamp that Jody uses to read (I think it is probably the lamp switch that needs to be replaced) and Jody wanted me to take a picture of the sunset for the blog. He always knows best!
It was not a bad commute into work this morning, and it was pretty quiet all things considered. I did manage to get a lot of work accomplished, and I am pretty much on the downhill side of getting everything ready for the New Year. I am looking very forward to working a half-day tomorrow, and then being off on Wednesday. I could get used to a four (or three day) work week, that is for sure. Maybe there is something to that Retirement gig after all.
SO...even though we had a nice sunset this evening, I was just reminded that we are slaves to technology. I had actually finished this entry and was uploading the photo, and the system went down. I called the provider, and it was back up in about twenty minutes.
We are slaves to modernity, and I do not know what we would do if something REALLY bad happened.
Oh, and by the way, just in case you were wondering, I will not be waxing philosophically tomorrow. Just giving you a heads-up!

2013 - Day 363/2 - Sunday...
I got more done today than I had really planned on doing, and I still have a list as long as my arm to get done. Tomorrow is another day!
I got some fire wood cut to the proper length to go into the stove, got the wood wagon filled for the week, and we are down now to just the new batch of wood, all of last years wood is in the wagon waiting to be used. I may need to go get more fire wood next week, or sometime before the end of this season. The chicken coop got cleaned out, the cattle got fed and lots of other miscellaneous things got accomplished.
Jody and I went into Austin and ran a couple errands. It is getting cold (bitingly cold) outside. The winds have shifted and are out of the north right now. I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home and got gas in the car, and the woman there said it was supposed to go down to 24 degrees tomorrow night. I think she has been sniffing too many fumes. The weather prognosticator did not show anything much worse than 30 degrees in the long range forecast. I will take it.
We have a good fire in the stove, so we are all warm and toasty. Time to go put the girls to bed for the night, and then I will be next.

2013 - Day 362/3 - Saturday...
The boy dog woke me up this morning, just to wake me up. Once I got up, he went back to his bed and stayed there til Jody got up.
I did a WHOLE LOT of nothing today. Okay that is a lie. I have truth issues. I lie all the time. It tends to make these journal entries a lot more interesting. I did a WHOLE LOT of stuff today, but not very much of it was interesting enough to remember or to take up space Blog-Dom.
HOWEVER, we did go to Marble Falls late this afternoon. I had been looking forward to the Bluebonnet Café and a piece of Key Lime Pie, and when we got there they were closed for the Holidays. I think that is an interesting business model, but, okay, as long as it works for them. We ended up having dinner at a local fish shack type restaurant, not bad at all, but we passed on the desserts. They did have a pumpkin cheesecake that sounded interesting though. And then it was off to see the Christmas lights on the lake. Very nice. (See Selfie). Not sure how long it has been since we have seen these, but it was more extensive this year. We are planning (already) to go see the trail of lights in Austin next year.

2013 - Day 361/4 - Friday...
What a really good, busy, hyper and yet very productive day this was. I got a lot of things done, and that is all very positive. I have not had any cloud pictures lately, so I hope you like this one. It actually took me by surprise, I was not expecting any clouds this afternoon, it seems we have been plagued with overcast cloud offerings (the grey dreary kind that, try as I might I cannot seem to see any beauty there, I guess I should try harder).
This is the last weekend of the year, and tomorrow evening Jody and I are going to Marble Falls to look at their Christmas Lights on the River. It is always really nice, I am not sure how long it has been since we have been there. We will most likely have dinner in Marble Falls (can you say PIE?), and then head for the lights, and try to be home before 9:30. Late night for sure.
Lots of errands to try and get accomplished this weekend. Lots of projects that need to get started, and maybe even finished.

2013 - Day 360/5 - Thursday...
Thursday, five days left of this year. I took the truck in to the office today, it is time to get rid of all files older than four years. Everything from 2009 back is going to be gone on Monday morning. We have a date with a mobile shredder. Fifty-Two Boxes of files and counting. Incredible. It is crazy how much paper we have. Now we need to delete the electronic files as well. Holy Dust Bowl!
I went into the office a little bit late this morning, but I was still there before 8 o'clock. According to my friend and fellow invalid Leonard, the steroids I am taking will cause me to NOT SLEEP and be a little bit crazier than usual. I only have two days left to take those, but I was blaming the sleeplessness on sugary Holiday Food; pies, ice cream, truffles, chocolate covered pretzels, mint bark, various cakes and other cookies. You know, just the usual stuff.
We have new tenants moving into our office space downstairs on Tuesday, so we are also busy cleaning that out and making it presentable. It was serving as the worlds most expensive storage locker for about the last four months.

2013 - Day 359/6 - Christmas Day...
As you can see, the dog boy is less than impressed with the reptilian footwear that I was given for Christmas. In fact, he thinks the whole thing was pretty much just a big yawn! I think someone missed one of his naps today.
I still cannot sleep in the bed, but the big blue chair works wonderfully well. Even in the chair I did not sleep all that comfortably last night, maybe I had TOO MANY naps yesterday. So, no naps today if you do not count the quick one during Jeopardy and the news. We shall see.
We had a lovely day today, stayed down kind of late, made a pile of eggs and then did a whole lot of nothing for the rest of the day. We did go into Austin to run a coupe errands; it was kind of like the Twilight Zone, not very much traffic at all.
Tomorrow is a work day, and there will be things needing to be done to get the end of the year settled in. Nothing terrible I don't expect.
We are planning to go to Marble Falls on Saturday to see the Christmas lights. We were supposed to go last night, but the inability to walk put a crimp into that set of plans. I am walking much better, particularly after I get started.
Goody!

2013 - Day 358/7 - Tuesday...
Okay, I am waking again. Okay, really I am gimping along, but I have been able to forgo crutches and canes for stumbling and gimping. It is hard to believe that yesterday morning I was in the Emergency Room, but I am here to tell you, when you cannot walk you life changes. Crutches are okay, but you cannot carry stuff while keeping a firm grip on a crutch. Life a coffee mug. Or a brief case. Suddenly you are looking for wheeled transportation. And who put all those rugs there, I am trying to roll through here. I may have been non-ambulatory, but I did figure out a way to carry some things around with me, but not coffee. It worked for newspapers and magazines and prescription bottles, but not coffee. I have even been able to cross my leg today, which is a big improvement. I am going to try sleeping in the bed tonight, but I am NOT CONVINCED that I will be able to lay flat on my back with no discomfort. I may need ONE MORE NIGHT in the big blue chair. I will fill you all in on that tomorrow.
We are winding down to the beginning of (yet) another new year. Seven more days of this year. I have been maintaining this journal for almost five full years, and I have not missed a single day, and only been late on a couple of occasions. I did renew my domain name, but it is interesting that I am contemplating stopping the journal. It is a pretty big commitment, and for all the (tens of) followers out there, I think some days are more amusing than others. I will most likely keep it going, but I wonder if I have another five years in me for this. I know other folks that have ended their journals, and I hated to see them stop posting, but I can totally understand the hows and whys of stopping.
Sigh...
I even managed to do a little bit of last minute (actually it was first AND last minute) shopping this afternoon. Not being able to walk yesterday certainly put a cramp in what had been planned for that day. BUT, tomorrow will be the best day ever, just as yesterday and today were.
Thanks for meeting me in the parking lot with the pies Kerry!
Now everybody, go get a good nights sleep!

2013 - Day 357/8 - Monday...
Well, my premonition of plague and viral chaos as a result of my flu shot and Shingles Vaccination have not developed into actuality, but I have been shot down in my prime with a nasty case of Sciatica. According to the Internet (purveyor of all truths and accuracies medical and otherwise) it was either Sciatica, a side effect of Type II Diabetes or a cancerous tumor that would require a leectomy. The people in the ER are going with Sciatica. I have had milder cases of this before, but this time around I can't walk. I am NOT AMBULATORY. I started noticing this on Saturday morning while I was riding with Jody, and it got progressively worse. Yesterday at lunch with Lynda and Michal I was having a good bit of pain, but I faked it through dinner. When we got home, I had a couple chores to complete and then it was all over. I slept in the big blue chair, and this morning it was off to the emergency room.
g-
BUT, before we went, Jody went out to the front barn and found the crutches. They were in the attic of the barn, which meant he was up on a ladder in the dark getting me crutches. What a wonderful man. AND two crutches work MUCH BETTER than one cane. I'm jus' sayin'!
And speaking of wonderful (in an entirely different way), by the time I got back home from the hospital, the hydrocodone was giving me a glowing sensation and I was feeling much better. I will take another (please) when I retire for the evening.
No work tomorrow or Wednesday, send me good wishes for the ability to walk unaided by Thursday!

2013 - Day 356/9 - Sunday...
I got up really kind of early this morning, made coffee, read the paper, made a pile of eggs for me and Jody. Then it was time to feed the chickens and the cattle. In the past two days, we have received almost an inch of rain, and that, coupled with what we already had, leaves the ground pretty well saturated and muddy. The feeding area back by the big barn was (and generally stays) pretty muddy, but that does not dampen the Pavlov's Cow effect that is ever present. You name it; Pavlov's Dog, Pavlov's Cat, Pavlov's Chickens, Pavlov's Cattle...we got 'em all!
We went into town this morning to have an early Christmas lunch with our friends Lynda and Michael. Very nice, and it is always a wonderful dinner when we visit with them. We got home about 5:30, and there is a freeze warning out for tonight and tomorrow, so I brought all the plants into the barn and/or garage. Then I had to go turn the water off to one of the troughs out in the back pasture. Everything should be under control.
One day of work (tomorrow) then closing the office for two days, then two days of work and then the weekend.
I hope I can make it.

2013 - Day 355/10 - Saturday...
Overnight we got 0.47" of rain, and through the day we got another 0.41', so that is pretty good for us! It is interesting to me that I can (usually) sleep through lightning, thunder and rain (like I did last night), but the sound of a cat projectile vomiting at 100 feet will get me out of bed in no time. Lucky me!
I am posting this photo because it is the cheapest gasoline we have found lately...HEB in Taylor. Seen any less expensive near here? A couple miles north it was $3.09.
I understand this is a totally irrational and illogical fear, but I fully expect to be riddled with several different maladies (perhaps the beginning of a new plague) not later than Christmas Eve. And in keeping with the spirit of the season, I expect the plethora of illnesses will be of biblical proportions. Jody and I went into Taylor this morning and I got a flu shot and a Shingles vaccination. I have had the flu before, and I have had shingles before. If I had to choose one over the other, I would go with the flu without even having to think about it. When I had shingles and recovered from it, my doctor said that, having had it I had most likely developed an immunity to it, kind of like you never have the same type of flu twice. So at the time, he recommended that I did not need to be inoculated for Shingles. A couple years later, he changed his opinion and recommended that I take the vaccine. I put it off and put it off, but about a week ago a good friend of mine came down with a case of the Shingles, and I decided I would rather go ahead and get the vaccine rather than chance it.
If you never had it, you cannot imagine the pain. Believe me. The air hurts!
When we got back from Taylor, it was nap time all around. Once we were conscious again, we made an unsuccessful trip to do some Christmas shopping, and gave up after one store and stopped at Schlotzsky's for lunch instead. Then we came home and I took another nap.
I expect locusts and pestilence just any minute.

2013 - Day 354/11 - Friday...
$762.08.
I stayed in bed just a little bit late this morning. I did not even leave the house until almost 7 o'clock. Traffic was not really THAT terrible, and I think that is a preview of what traffic will be like for the next two or three weeks. At least two, I think. The University of Texas is officially on Christmas Break, which means all the other schools are on break, which means traffic should be a BREEZE until they all return. Enjoy it while you can!
I actually made some good accomplishments today, and it is supposed to rain overnight and be cooler tomorrow evening. Not cooler like it was a couple weeks ago, but cooler anyway. Cool enough that I need to clean out the wood stove and we will get a fire going.
I have not really even begun to do any shopping for Christmas. There is always Monday. I have no idea how this is all going to end!

2013 - Day 353/12 - Thursday...
Before I get into this entry, I want to talk about this photo. The Austin Board of REALTORS® made an investment in our community recently. There are many ways we can invest the assets of our colleagues, and one way is to help others. The Board donated $50,000 to the Red Cross of Central Texas and earmarked the monies to be used to help folks who were flooded out of their homes in the Halloween Floods...about 1,200 folks were forced out of their homes. This is what REALTORS® are all about; helping folks buy, sell, maintain and reinforce the dream of Home Ownership. How many of you have ever heard a little kid say that they dreamed of growing up to be a renter? Really? Okay, enough of this soap box...it is all about the good we can do individually and collectively.
And by the way, if you look closely, you can see a much better image of my friend and colleague Aaron behind me (the goofy guy with the bow tie)! Note: Photo Credit Austin Board of REALTORS®.
Today was a very interesting day. I consciously felt no stress on the way to work this morning. I had no meetings (none to really talk about anyway), no deadlines, nothing causing me even the littlest bit of stress. It was very nice.
I got to the office, and was able to concentrate on work. We did have a PM meeting in the AM, and shortly after that Kay and I went and delivered our Meals-On-Wheels route, and that was fun. We even volunteered for a couple extra delivery days in the next couple weeks to help cover for other folks who will be out of town or otherwise obligated. It is nice to actually cover for other folks every now and then, I certainly need to be covered now and again.
After Meals-On-Wheels, Kay and I got lunch from El Mercado and sat in the conference room and watched HGTV for a while. Very nice.
My goal was to make it home before dark, but I was not able to get that accomplished. Things come up and things do not always work out the way we expected. BUT, everything ALWAYS works out the way it is supposed to!

2013 - Day 352/13 - Wednesday...
So...do you know what day it is? IT'S HUMP DAY!!! Yesindeedydo, it is hump day, and that is almost over already!
As all of you (my loyal and trusted followers know) I got home about mid-night last night, and was back up and at 'em early this morning. The final event of this season was checked off the list with our office party this evening. It was a tremendous, rousing success planned and executed exclusively and single handily by my business partner and very good friend Carrie, It was a wonderful time, and a wonderful time was had by all as well, The band was great, the wine was great and the camaraderie was excellent. Putting a little bit of more effort into it, I kind of have to consider the alternative of the actions that certain people will be taking here we go again, we will awake from our individual slumbers in the morning and be very surprised that it took this log into some semblance of reality
manifested in this toast, Just sit around and consider the alternative.

This morning at breakfast, Claire Shipman from ABC News was our speaker, and it was a pretty darned interesting speech. Lots of interesting insider tidbits about the administrations from Bill Clinton to George W to Barak. Fun stuff. Then at lunch, there was commentary by Professor Joseph J Ellis, whom I had never heard of before, but that is not saying anything. His Wikipedia entry says he is an American historian and professor whose work focuses on the lives and times of the founders of the United States of America and he is a best selling author. He was a very interesting person, and was spot-on with many of his remarks (in my opinion). He was in great demand for comments after the lunch. I ran into him sitting alone at a table in the airport and we had a nice chat, and I was allowed this 'selfie'. So there!
I am home and happy to be here. Full day of meetings tomorrow and in the late afternoon our company will be having its Holiday Open House. Feel free to drop by if you are in the neighborhood!

2013 - Day 350/15 - Monday...
It is 11 o'clock Monday evening and I am in Williamsburg, Virginia. It is cold outside, I just got here, there was a cab fiasco and I am hungry. It will get better from here. From what I could see in the dark during the drive here from the airport, it is a beautiful historic town, and I will try to get to see a quick bit of it tomorrow between meetings. In the meantime, this is the best photo I have. Maybe I will have a better one when the room service burger gets here, but for now, this one will have to do...I fear this is a quiet, tasteful little hotel. CRAP!
Today was a busy day, and there was lots of work to get done. I left the office at 3 PM and really had no challenges with the fights even though there was no time for dilly dallying around. Tomorrow will be the real teller...My meeting is over at 3:30 and my flight is at 5:10. Allegedly there will be a chariot awaiting when my meeting is over to whisk me back to Newport News so I can catch that little bitty plane back to Atlanta where I can catch that bigger plane back to Austin, I have not yet had a drink of wine (it has been ordered) but I am waiting for it to be delivered. I remember how much fun this used to be, trying to type and self medicate at the same time, and it is proving to be fun even again. Self medication works in a variety of states and municipalities, JUST REMEMBER TH WORDS YOU USED TO LEARN IN CHURCH...bingo! IT SHOULD BE all caps, BUT THAT IS CLOSE ENOUGH.
I THINK THERE IS something to be said for quitting while I am ahead, and I think I just said it.

2013 - Day 349/16 - Sunday...
LUNATIC: Affected with periodic insanity, dependent on the changes of the moon. From Old French lunatique, lunage (insane)...
I expect this could also apply to chickens, but it would become LUNACHICK! Because that is exactly what they became this evening when I was trying to put them to bed; CRAZY. I think the moon was so bright (even though the full moon is not until Tuesday) that they thought it was still daylight outside. I finally got them all corralled into their pen, it is up to them to get into the coop.
Miguel came out today, and we got all the chores done without too much trouble. Then it was time for a nap, which was very welcome. Jody and I went into Georgetown for dinner tonight, and it was Souper Salad. Pretty good, a nice variety, but I do not recommend the baked sweet potatoes. Baked way too long!
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day; I will take Jody to a dentists appointment in the morning, and then late tomorrow afternoon I will head out to Williamsburg, Virginia for a QUICK meeting. Fly back LATE on Tuesday afternoon, and then another meeting on Wednesday morning.
That will pretty much finish the year...

2013 - Day 348/17 - Saturday...
Things went pretty much as planned today, except for the parts where I was working around the house. I stayed in bed until after 7 o'clock this morning. When I finally got up, I read the paper, drank volumes of coffee and made Jody and me a lovely pile of eggs. I did a little bit of work in the office, and then I went out and hooked the trailer up to the truck for the trip into Georgetown to pick up the Polaris. That all went well, and we got home, got the Polaris off the trailer, unhitched the trailer and then went into Taylor to get some cattle feed. I like the Taylor Feed Store, but it is not that convenient...the Bartlett Feed Store is much more convenient, but they do not stock a particular cattle feed that I like in the winter time. SO, it is off to Taylor in the colder months.
On the way back, we stopped at Tractor Supply where I got a new pair of winter gloves, some chicken seed blocks, and some wild bird food. Then it was on to HEB where Jody got some salad makings and I made a personal plea for some Blue Bell Homemade in the Shade. My fave! I will enjoy it now, because I can see the writing on the wall, and it says sacrifice the sweet stuff at the New Year.
I have been on the rubber chicken circuit most of this month, and there is no reason to try to have any self control until after Christmas; I know there are pies in my future. Some things are just not worth the fight.
Rumor has it Mack Brown is resigning but will stay through the Bowl Game. I did not know Texas was in a bowl game.
Hmmmmm...

2013 - Day 347/18 - Friday...
Why yes, as a matter of fact, it has been cold, rainy and miserable all day today, why do you ask?
But in spite of it all I remain the luckiest man in the world.
I made it to the Board this morning for a new member orientation presentation. Ethics and TREPAC, that is my part. I love it, especially when I give them real life examples of what goes on in our world. Interesting stuff and fun at the same time.
After that it was off to the office, there were three meetings spread out between 11 and 4, and in the middle of those I made it to the Capitol for some stuff. I love everything Texas, I just cannot get enough of it.
My friends Chad and John have gone to one of those non-descript states to the north where they take for granted that it will be cold. It is expected, not a mistake. I hope all goes well for them both, and that they are blessed in this chapter.
I get to sleep in tomorrow, then there will be a big pile of eggs, then I will head off to Georgetown to pick up the Polaris that has been in the shop for TOO LONG. Then office work.

2013 - Day 346/19 - Thursday...
Okay, let's '86' the area Installations for another year. That's a wrap! This morning there was a really early Economic Forecast at the Hilton. Angelos Angelou says this one was #29, he plans to do one more and that will be it for him. We will see! Of course, there is the theory of leave the people wanting more...quit while you're ahead and all that. The thought of an additional 95,000 vehicles on our roads in the next two years is enough to give anyone pause.
After the breakfast, I headed to the office and did some power real estate, and then I was off to Round Rock to attend the Williamson County Association of REALTORS® installation. It was a very nice event; I would never say anything negative about any place that was serving wine at lunch! The Officers for 2014 were installed and everything points to another successful year for their Association.
And then it was off to the Austin Board, where my colleague and fellow Director David and I presented restructuring information to the Professional Development and Education Committee.
And then it was back to the office to do just a little bit more power real estate, and then it was time to head home. And I made it home JUST BEFORE DARK!
Perfect!

2013 - Day 345/21 - Wednesday...
Okay, well this might make for an interesting discussion topic. If I am so totally dis-interested in trying to take an interesting photo for an otherwise totally dis-interesting journal entry, BUT I go onto the dis-interestnet and find something that is a little bit interesting and take a photo of that so there will be at least a little bit of interest in the entry, I understand that I will own the copyright (my intellectual property) to that particularly un-ininteresting (or maybe slightly interesting) photograph. But where does that leave the original (perhaps interesting) owner of the original photograph that I found interesting enough (in an un-interesting sort of way) to take my own photo of, and post to try and garner interesting discussion comments to an otherwise uninteresting day and journal post. Does any of this make sense to you? Have I violated some sort of (now this is REALLY un-interesting) vague and (more un-interesting) copyright law? Can I be sued for that action and thrown into a (un-interesting) jail cell (perhaps made interesting if I could share the cell with a Travis County DA who will remain anonymous but HER first initial is ROSEMARY, and she is packin' some vodka) that is accessorily challenged and totally NOT INTERESTING.
Please feel free to discuss among yourselves...
I got home from the office at a reasonable time this afternoon, and it is still a reasonable time as I compose this entry. But that is about as interesting as I can be for one day.

2013 - Day 344/21 - Tuesday...
At least I think it is still Tuesday...
This is a photo of some of the Christmas lights we have hanging on the gate up by the road. Interestingly I guess my iPhone camera cannot focus with that many points of light, but that is perfectly okay with me.
I got into the office this morning and did some power real estate, and headed off to the Board for a ten o'clock meeting. Then another appointment and some errands and I was back in the office by about 1:30.In the office until about 5:15 and then I headed off to the San Marcos Area Board of REALTORS® (SMABOR) Installation Gala. It was a great event, and it was interesting that I knew many more folks there than I expected.
But then there was the hundred mile drive home. I left at pretty close to 9 PM, and it is not quite 11 now, so that is a good thing.
Jody had to take the girl cat to the vet this afternoon, she has a kidney infection and she is curled up in one of the chairs in the living room and her breathing is really sounding LOUD and difficult. None of us are getting any younger, that is certain.
I got the fire in the stove all stoked for the night and I am ready to call it a day.

2013 - Day 343/22 - Monday...
Good things still happen as a result of the Installation that was held on last Saturday night. My friend Steve (a hero to many) picked up the Christmas Trees that were used at the entrance to the tent (you should have been there) and took them for re-gifting (sort of). ANYWAY, one of the trees made its' way to the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless (see the photo) and the other is now happily brightening the lives of economically disadvantaged single mom in East Austin. Hopefully, when they reach the end of this incarnation, they will be further re-gifted and taken to the mulching site in Zilker Park after the Holidays and have another benefit to someone. Good job from my great and totally unselfish friend Steve!
It was interesting to be able to work today without many distractions. It was certainly a change of pace. I got up at about 4:30 this morning and did my usual things. My friend Mike (who was visiting from Florida for the coronation) got up a little while later, and I think we were on the road by about 6:15 (not sure). His flight back to Orlando was leaving at 8:40, so we got him there in plenty of time. Unfortunately he came down with a pretty bad cold while he was here (I think he brought it with him) and I am certain that everyone on the plane (not just those in close proximity to him) were delighted with his presence! I got a voice-mail message from him that he arrived home safely and was going to bed! No need to call him back, rest comfortably and I hope you feel better soon.
I was at the office until about 1:15 and then headed out to a couple of appointments, and ran some errands and then headed home. It is still relatively miserable outside, weather wise. Cold, drizzly, cloudy...just the kind of weather that makes Melody all perky but makes me and Bruce all grumpy.
Tomorrow will be a better day yet!

2013 - Day 342/23 - The Day After!!!
Okay. Alrighty then. Here we all are.
I got to bed last night (really this morning) about 3 AM. I am not sure when I got to sleep.
The Installation Event was wonderful, and there were lots of people involved with it. I refuse to mention names (still) because I am basically petrified that I will inadvertently omit someone, and that would not be intentional, so I just want to tell everyone involved that I appreciate all your hard work more that words could ever say.
One of the things that I really liked about the Installation was that it was serious, but at the same time peppered with fun and things that were not expected. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, and you had to pay attention or you might miss something. This photo is of Doris E'scrow greeting my friend Warren to the stage to Induct the ABoR Foundation Board of Directors.
Lots of Fun. Time for bed.

I don't care what anybody says, today was a great day!
Today I was inducted as the 2014 President of the Austin Board of REALTORS®. It is an honor that I will not take lightly, and I will not take it for granted. I would say a lot more about it, but it is actually 2 AM on Sunday morning, and as you know, this is way past my comfort zone.
I want to just thank EVERYONE that has been a part of this tremendous opportunity. You all know who you are.

2013 - Day 340/25 - Friday...
What do you call someone who is afraid of Santa Claus? Claus-trophobic! HAHAHA.
I did not care for my dinner tonight at the Catfish Parlour. Medium Catfish and Shrimp platter, please!
Traffic this morning reminded me (and a lot of other people) of Austin back in the good old days. Relatively sparse, the infrastructure was capable of handling the amount of traffic, and no one came to a stop and not too many people had wrecks...if you do not include Texas 45 in that statistic.
Tomorrow will be a pretty busy day, the journal entry may be late, it may not post until the wee hours of Sunday morning actually, if alt all. Like I said, tomorrow will be a busy day.
And now, if you will excuse me, there is a piece of Key Lime Pie with my name on it. Thanks Chris and Ruby!

2013 - Day 339/26 -Thursday...
Okay, it is almost Saturday, I'm just saying!
Got into the office about as usual this morning, we had our PM meeting in the AM and all was good with that. I left the office about 10:40 to head to the Austin Country Club for the Women's Council of REALTORS® Austin Chapter Installation luncheon. It was a very nice ceremony (always is) and it is always a pleasure to get together with these folks. This is a photo of me and my friend Laura getting ready for lunch. Laura has been a trend setter MUCH longer than me, I am a new devotee to the bow cravat!
Headed back to the office and did some power real estate, touched a lot of papers, made several phone calls and was very surprised to see that my friend Mike's flight from Ft. Lauderdale was twenty minutes early. It seems they actually landed twenty minutes early, but there was not an available gate for the plane so they just sat on the tarmac until a gate opened up for them.
We got home and stoked the fire in the stove, watched a little bit of news and then headed into Thorndale for dinner. Good food all around, and now back home consuming a piece of pie before I go to bed.
The cold front has DEFINITELY arrived, and when I last looked it was 36 degrees. There is a STRONG north wind, so the next few days look like it will be a little chilly. We should have enough pie in the house to make in in case of an emergency.

2013 - Day 338/27 - Wednesday...
It's HUMP Day...
I made it to work at about the usual time this morning, lots of things to get (and try to stay) caught up on. Then it was off to the Austin Area CRS Chapter Installation luncheon. It was a great luncheon and Installation meeting, and this is a picture of Cathy and me taken by Carrie (one of the other Carrie's). It was a great fun meeting.
After that, I had an appointment to get my haircut, and then I went home to feed the cattle (so I don't have to do it in the (forecast) cold tomorrow or the next day). That was a sentence with a double parenthetical note in it, not a first for this journal, but certainly not an everyday occurrence! Then I took ANOTHER shower, did a little bit of work in the home office, and then headed back into town for a quick meeting at the Board, and then on to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals Installation meeting. Another very fine group and another great Installation program.
Tomorrow is the Women's Council of REALTORS® Installation Luncheon, and then on Saturday it will be the Austin Board of REALTORS® Installation event.
Kind of a busy schedule!

2013 - Day 337/28 - Tuesday...
I don't care what anybody says, today was a long day. Okay, really not any longer than any other day, but it seemed longer!
I had to have Jody to the dentists office this morning by 9:15. That was kind of tricky because I was also supposed to be in a class at 9 o'clock. SO...I got Jody to the dentist by about 8:20 and abandoned him so I could make it to the class by 9 o'clock. I got there, and Lynda came to the dentists office and fetched Jody home. He had an implant implanted and he is acting pretty much like nothing at all happened to him. If that was me, I would want to see the list of available drugs BEFORE I confirmed the appointment AND they would have to roll me into the office. I am not going to show up for that under my own power!
BUT, the class was pretty good; the biennial Legislative Update mostly, but it means I am good to teach the TREC Ethics and Legal Update Classes for the next two years. Okay then...
I got home and the girls had already gone to bed, even though it was not quite dark outside. And they are all accounted for still...28.
Tomorrow will be another busy day...the next ten days are promising to be busy, and then it will be next year.

2013 - Day 336/29 - Monday...
Okay, so today's temperature in Austin was a record high. This weekend we are expecting record LOWS and I will be in a tent for a good part of that. I'm just sayin'...
Even though I actually DID enjoy a four-day-weekend, the day was fast and furious. I was in the office shortly after 7 AM, and got caught up on lots of things. I left shortly before noon to go and run some errands and the get to the Board to teach a three hour class, NAR Ethics. I really like teaching Ethics (guiding my colleagues is more like it actually) and it was a good class, about thirty folks attended.
I had gone by the pharmacy on the way to the Board (thinking I was very smug to get that errand completed) but I had to return after the class to pick up some new prescriptions that had been call in for Jody. Backtracking at its' finest!
Tomorrow will be another busy day, I will be in a class all day long learning about how to present new educational materials to our colleagues.

2013 - Day 335/30 - Sunday...
It should really be called a chicken 'poop' and not a chicken 'coop' because that is what the do in it mostly. With 28 girls in that coop they produce a lot of poop! Just sayin'... Anyway, I got the coop cleaned out and the rest of the lights strung up out by the road. It seems like I did a lot more than that today (changed the HVAC filters) but that is about all I can think of right now
On the way in to Austin, they were having an old car meeting at the Walburg Restaurant. They do that every now and then. I am not very good at distinguishing cars before about 1946 or 1947, so about all I know about this car (other than it looks really cool) is that Jody says he thinks it is a Ford. Who am I do challenge that?
We went into Austin and took care of some errors, and on the way home we had dinner at Macaroni Grill. Not going to make any disparaging remarks, but not going to have anything glowing to say about it either. Our server is either used to working with small children or thought that Jody and I were a couple of old coots that were also hard of hearing. "Have we made our decision?" I am not sure about you but I have decided I don't like you, now go away.
Once we got back into Georgetown, we drove around the square to look at the Christmas lights. Very nice.
Once home, I put the girls to bed, took out the trash, brought in some more firewood and I am about ready to call it a night.
