2017 - Day 29/286 - Monday...
Interestingly, over the past two weeks, the City of Austin enjoyed (their words, not mine) a population increase of about 300,000. Attendees of the annual SXSW Conference and whatever... The states of Maine, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming do not have a single city of 300,000 persons. US cities with a population (give or take) of 300,000 include Anaheim, Bakersfield (who knew), Riverside, Santa Ana, Stockton, Aurora, Tampa, Cincinnati, Toledo, Pittsburgh, and Corpus Christi. Did you notice how I used the Oxford comma there? Anyway... It is like we have a Super Bowl here EVERY YEAR! And to accommodate all those people (most of whom left today, historically the worst travel day at the airport), there is a lot of temporary infrastructure and crap that is brought in, only to be taken away when the whole thing is over. On my commute home this afternoon, I saw this truck carrying some of the electric people movers that had been used at the event. Interesting.
And before we know it, we will be in the throes of the Austin City Limits Fest (ACL Fest).
Deeds, Actions, Changes, EXODUS, Kindnesses, Whirled Peas, FUN!
