2017 - Day 238/127 - Saturday...

The strongest winds and the highest storm surge are on a hurricane's right side — the "dirty side" — as viewed from above. That's because winds in a hurricane rotate counterclockwise, so the strength of the storm on the "dirty side" is the hurricane's wind speed plus its forward velocity. I don't think we are on a 'side' yet. The storm is still southeast of us, and it is really not going anywhere in any kind of a hurry. We have had some pretty good winds, but no real heavy rains, just kind of drizzly all afternoon. So far, since my last entry, we have had a little over an inch-and-a-half of rain. It is still raining. Yesterday, my storm preparations included moving the flower pots off the columns outside the front door. That was pretty much it. This morning, the gutters were backed up, so I cleaned out the gutters, and that is pretty much it. The only damage we have suffered so far is a couple small limbs off some of the trees and the trash can blew over onto its side. That is it so far, and I will take that. I think it is still going to rain for the next four or five days, pretty constantly, and that is not a bad thing. I believe Austin is having much more rain than we are, so I hope everything there will be good, or at least as good as it can be. Deeds, Actions, Changes, HARVEY, Kindnesses, Whirled Peas, FUN!
