Here we are, July 1st already. Hot like the hinges of hell, and no rain, although there is a slim chance for the middle of the week. There will not, however, be enough rain to really do any good. I am selling two and (maybe, I am not sure) three year old bales of hay for $30 a round bale. Just barely covers the cost of baling it, but at least it will not rot in the fields. If we could get a couple good rains in the next couple months, there is a possibility that we could get another cutting of hay, but if we only get 16 bales off 50 acres, it seems hardly worth all the effort. We will see. But, in the middle of all of that complaining, there is something pretty to be seen. This little morning glory is coming up in the middle of one of the grasses in front of the house. Not sure how it got there, but we will take it. The real forecaster of the weather is the sage plant up by the road. It is blooming, and we have seen sage plants all over Georgetown blooming their hearts out. If the sage is blooming, there will be rain.
I will let you know.
