2016 - Day 186/180 - Independence Day...

No, not the movie, the real thing. Two hundred and forty years ago, we broke free from Britain, and (I think) we are living in a age that is relishing the freedoms and re-defining freedom for this period in our history. I can hardly imagine living with a home or car that does not have air conditioning even though I grew up with no air conditioning. It was not until AFTER we had our first color television set that we got a single window unit air conditioner for our house. 1968. The first car we had with 'factory air' was a 1969 (but you still had to roll down the windows manually). What must it have been like to be in Philadelphia in 1776. I saw a PBS documentary about a month ago about life in Jamestown when the first settlers arrived. Miserable. Survival cannibalism. I cannot comprehend. We are all lucky people, we are all fortunate to be able to espouse our beliefs without fear of retribution. We get a chance to vote every four years and elect a President (let's just assume it is all on the up-and-up), and there is not rioting in the streets because someone did not like the turn-out. Close, but...

Anyway, I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend festivities...try to remember how lucky we all are.

Deeds, Actions, Changes, FREEDOM, Kindnesses, Whirled Peas, FUN!
