Volume 14 - Day 358/7, 2022 - Christmas Eve

It was a little bit too chilly for us to walk at our usual time this morning, but Jay and I walked at 9:30, and by the time we were finished, I decided I was wearing too many layers. As we walked a little ways down the Parkway, we realized whose house it was that burned yesterday. There are three Terri's (maybe Teri's) that we know of in the neighborhood, and it was the house of Terri Number Three that burned. We frequently see her walking in the mornings, and we always have a few salutations to share. It was an awful realization to know the person whose house had burned. It is awful no matter whose home it was, but knowing the owner, even casually, made it even worse. As we walked past the house, there were firemen looking around, and I asked if Terri were around somewhere. She is in Killeen with family, but her husband was there, and we told him who we were. He said Terri often mentioned having seen us, but they were all okay, and everyone was safe. Good to know. Later on in the day, I did go and visit with some other neighbors and distributed small gifts, and it was a beautiful day, sunny and clear, and it was above freezing. Still gonna be cold overnight, but I think that might be the last of our freezing weather for a while.
