2011 - Day One Hundred Twenty Nine; Monday...

A really early day and then a full day of travel. I got stuck in line at security at the airport because of snacks I had in my carry-on. Really...

I think babies have the right idea. When they are unhappy, they let you know. When they hurt, they let you know. When they are hungry, they let you know. Who came up with the idea that we should stifle what we are feeling. It is something that we are taught, not something we are born with. This realization hit me on the plane this afternoon. The child was not annoying at all, just wanted to let someone know there was something wrong and it needed to be fixed. I like that idea. I think I will cry more often.

On the way to DC, we flew over Memphis (or close to it anyway). The waters are really up, and from 23,000 feet, it was really beautiful. I know there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of people who are suffering, but from my vantage point, it was beautiful. It was really like a tapestry, nothing you could have made, but something that just happened.

Jody reports that he collected five eggs from the girls today, and that is a good number. I fed the bees this morning, let the girls out of their coop, read all the meters, and then we headed out to the airport.

Once I got to DC, I checked into the Hotel (took a cab shared with Joe, Pam, Jim and Beth) and had to wait for a room. When I finally got in, I determined that CVS does not sell wine in DC, so I had to go ANOTHER two blocks to a liquor store, got my bottle of wine, and headed back. Everyone I know that is here is spread out from one end of this town to the other, not a single person around here, and we were all out on our own. I ended up in the Hotel restaurant, and back in the room, ready to go to bed.

I'm beat.

Deeds, Actions, Changes, the District, Kindnesses, Whirled Peas, FUN!
