Volume 14 - Day 96/269, 2022 - Wednesday

During a visit to England in 1976, Dale Chihuly (b 1941 I think) was involved in a serious car accident that sent him through the car windshield and caused deep cuts to his face and the loss of sight in hi left eye. After the Broker Summit ended today, Carrie and I went to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix (maybe Tempe), where there is a display of several of Chihuly's works, throughout the gardens and also some inside and auditorium. The ones inside the auditorium could use a good dusting. Lovely works, but I am more accustomed to his chandeliers and plate/bowl types of works. Very interesting, though. And the desert gardens were really beautiful. We went inside a butterfly habitat, saw lots of interesting plants and sculptures (even a couple that I have installed at the Curious House, and overall, it was a nice way to end this trip to Phoenix. We had dinner tonight at a revolving restaurant on the 24th floor of the hotel (1 star) and we will head back to Austin very early in the morning.
