Day Two Hundred Thirteen...

There is just no getting around it, July of '09 was a hot month. We have all heard the stories, and we are all tired of hearing cute anecdotes about the heat, so just quit already. The heat will break about the second week of October, as it has for the past six to ten years. I know, because I have occasionally be out riding my bicycle in it when the blue northers hit central Texas. It is pretty darn predictable, almost like clockwork. Second week of October. Mark it down on your calendar. Hide and watch. Whatever.

We got another early start for a weekend, I had to be on the road at 8:30 AM, I had a 10 o'clock appointment in the office, and cannot risk being late. The pest control man was here at 8 AM (Adam) and he was very nice. We are trying to get the little mousey problem under control. There was a little baby mouse in the pool skimmer this morning, so that is one less. They are not RATS, just little mice, and as we have said, if they would just stay where mice are supposed to stay, there would be no real issues, and we would let them alone. BUT NO! They have to come inside the house where we can see them, so something has to be done, and we need to get it done before cooler weather comes our way.

My 10 o'clock appointment was good, Ed from Hawaii in town to buy a house. He has done a lot of the leg work on his own in the several days he has been here. Found a very nice condo for him, not far from downtown, easy access to the Interstate and close to lots of shopping. We have worked on an offer, and we need to wait for a few more details need to be finalized before we officially submit something to the other agent in the transaction. Ed is a very nice man, and very easy to work with. He will make a great addition to central Texas, and I hope very much that he will like it here. I think he is a smart man, and has thought everything through for his relocation.

As I reported a few days ago, on the advice of the Bartlett Tribune Progress (Serving Central Texas Since 1886), we are going to the Bartlett Filling Station Restaurant for the inaugural Saturday Night Seafood Night. Reservations were recommended, and we hope it will be yummy good. We really hope this restaurant can make a go of it, which of course means we need to patronize it and support it. It is hard to start a business like that in the country. Wish them all luck.

A cool front must have come through, it is only 99.5 degrees on the nuclear weather station we have. Not as warm as was predicted! Try your best to do a kind deed for someone, and as long as you are in the mood, do something nice for yourself! Have fun!
